Our autonomous wheels let you move everything you're used to moving, only way more easily. They even move things you'd never even thought you could move. But what we've really set in motion are ideas. Ideas about flexible walls. About changing room structures. About relocating heavy equipment just by telling it where to go. In short, ideas that move the status quo.
At wheel.me we make businesses more competitive by allowing them to automate within current facilities as is, without needing to rebuild. We provide customers with a low entry cost compared to alternatives and offer them a significantly higher degree of flexibility by enabling them to put wheels on existing objects.
About the Role
We are expanding the company globally and are seeking for a Lead Robotics Engineer to join us in Detroit and build a talented robotics engineering team, take the lead in the wheel.me robotics solutions, and provide support to our deployment team.
This role requires a combination of excellent mechatronics skills, team leadership abilities, and exceptional internal and external communication. Small travel to client sites can be expected in this role with all expenses paid.

- Have obtained a Master's degree in Robotics or Autonomous Systems, or a related field
- Have proven experience working with writing software and programming systems in C++ and ROS
- Have broad technical and IT knowledge, including operating systems, programming languages and databases
- Independent and self-driven with a strong focus on results to ensure that the whole team succeeds in its goals
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate complex information at every level
- Proven experience within robotics, cybernetics, mechatronics, or software engineering with lead experience

- Experience with Python, APIs, GRCP, and CAN bus
- A basic understanding of Java and Kotlin

What you will be doing at wheel.me
- Function as a lead technical resource for the R&D of wheel.me robotics solutions
- Have an overview of developmental needs and structure tasks into sprints
- Act as subject matter expert (SME) in specific domain, disseminating knowledge, methodology, best practice, and standards
- Interact with customers and gather feedback to implement in the robot system
- Have a good product sense and a keen focus on product performance
- Innovate to develop solutions that improve accuracy, usability, and performance
- Build, lead, and develop a talented team of robotics engineers
- Provide engineering support to our deployment team
- Collaborate with our Norway robotics team
